Arc of Orange County
The Arc of Orange County is an organization dedicated to serving people with developmental disabilities. The Arc provides respite services, group programs, and employment assistance. Sisters of Kappa Chapter volunteer at Arc fundraisers and other functions. We also sponsor a participant in the Arc's cooking class each semester through a fundraising effort led by the Associate Member class. There are several opportunities for individuals to get involved with other facets of the Arc through the Petals with a Purpose program as well as donating time to spend time with one on one time with these individuals. Ronald McDonald House
As part of our efforts to reach out to our local community, we prepare a meal at the Ronald McDonald House several times each semester. The Ronald McDonald House aims to lessen the financial burden placed on families of pediatric patients at Duke and UNC Hospitals by providing free housing and meals for them. Pediatric Playroom at UNC Children's Hospital
The Pediatric Playroom is a special area for pediatric patients with UNC Children's Hospital which allows the children to play and have fun during their hospital stay. Phi Beta Chi volunteers at UNC Hospital’s Play Atrium three or four times a semester. We bring a craft and some games for the children and just have fun! The Pediatric Playroom also provides the families of the child an opportunity to see their child having fun and allows them to take a much needed break from the challenges of their hospital stay.
