Hey Y’all. We are so very excited that you are interested in joining Phi Beta Chi and becoming part of our sisterhood. There are a lot of amazing women for you to get to know, great events to look forward to, and lots of opportunities to wear cute clothes.
Here are some quick tips to help you get the most out of this experience:
1. Be Yourself!
We want to meet the real you. We relate better to you if you are genuine and sincere about
who you are and what you stand for. You are absolutely wonderful, just the way you are. Own
I can tell you from experience that we, as active members, are extremely nervous and excited about meeting y’all as well. We want to make a good impression and understand that you will be nervous about meeting all of us. (It can be really intimidating meeting so many new people, but know that we are beyond PUMPED that you are in our home and will do our best to bring out all the Southern grace and hospitality we can muster to make you feel welcome.) We will do our best to make you feel comfortable in our home so those nerves abate and you can enjoy your time with our sisters.
We want to get to know you and spending time with us makes it a lot easier for each us to feel as though we know you. It’s very true that we don’t know you fully (especially not after only 4 encounters), but it does help us to speak to your character when making bid decisions when we’ve spent some time talking to you and getting to know you. So, come to EVERYTHING! You won’t be disappointed. You’re (almost) guaranteed to have a great time.
We want to get to know you on the level as a person. You are not some cookie cutter cut-out and we recognize that. We would love to hear about the things that make you unique, what interests you, what your passions are. These are the things that make you uniquely you, so don’t be afraid to share those things with us. (You may find that you are in company that loves/is interested in the same things you are.)
This is a new experience for you and we want you to feel as though you have all the information you need to make a decision about our sorority. Your recruitment buddy is a great resource for you to utilize, because they will have the information you need or be able to go to the right people to get answers for you. You can always talk to our amazing executive board members, notably our President, Madison Coburn; VP, Katie; and lovely recruitment chair, Ashley Webster; if you have specific things you’d like to address with them about dues, time commitment, etc. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible about the decision you are making.
