Recruitment is the most wonderful time of the year in my opinion. It’s a time when you can bond with current sisters, learn to trust your sisters and even make new sisters!! I love the way each night of recruitment has a different theme because it makes each of us think about the foundations of our sorority. We are a sisterhood, and we are always there for our sisters. To some people it seems silly to call each other sisters, but I think that it truly represents the bond that you make with these girls. They’re not just friends because friends come and go, but a sister sticks by you forever! I also think that our sisterhood truly shows it’s dedication to serving others, and this allows us to do exactly what we as sisters in Christ are called to do.
Going through recruitment for the first time as an active sister was so much fun, and as I got to know the PNMs and my recruitment buddy, I realized exactly how much I wanted all of these girls to be able to have the same amazing experience that I had! It is often difficult to fully explain the joy of sisterhood to someone on the outside, but recruitment gave the PNMs a glimpse of what is to come! I cannot even contain my excitement for the Alpha Zeta class as I know what they are about to experience through inductions, AM bonding, retreat, Big/Little, service events, and socials! There is so much that Phi Beta Chi gave to me and I am grateful everyday for the way this amazing group of sisters has shaped me into a better person. I too want to be able to make this difference in another sister’s life!!
So Alpha Zeta class, welcome to the family! You really have no idea what you’re getting yourself into! I know without a doubt that Phi Beta Chi will exceed all of your hopes and expectations because it sure did for me!!
And last but certainly not least, HUGE shout out to Ashley Webster for being a fabulous recruitment director!!
